Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions

Not too long ago, you probably made some promises to yourself. Maybe you called them resolutions, maybe you called them adjustments, maybe you called it a fresh start. Whatever you called it, you recognized areas where you could improve and you worked to improve them. That is the key to sales. Always asking how you can be better. How you can do more. How you can drive harder.

There’s also a good chance that right around now you’re starting to doubt that you’ll be able to follow through with it. Plans have fallen through. Schedules have been changed. Worst of all, old habits return. How do you keep that promise to yourself, keep that momentum going forward, and make this next year your best sales year yet?

Your Worst Day Was Yesterday

One of the biggest momentum killers you’re gonna have while you’re making these changes is the days when you don’t. If you say you’re gonna find more leads every week and go one week without being able to find any new leads, you’re gonna find yourself going right back to your old habits. It won’t even feel like you chose to go back to your old habits. You’ll just catch yourself doing the same stuff again. And when you catch yourself, your doubt will creep in and you’ll start telling yourself it’s too late. It’s not. Every step is a fresh start. If you miss a week, a day, or a goal, be intentional about hitting the next one.

Be Organized

Write your goals down. Write your starting put down. What were your total sales this year? Where do you want them to be next year? How many leads did you generate? How many more can you generate? What are the steps in between? Know where you are, where you’re going, and how you’re getting there every time.

Repeat Your Motivation

What drives you? Something made you say “No. I can be better this year.” What was it? Are your retirement savings looking a little light? Are you falling behind a sales rival? Are you getting married or have a kid on the way? Whatever the reason is, it doesn’t matter. What matters is reminding yourself what you’re fighting for.

You Got This

Above all else, remember that you can do this. You have the tools to make this your biggest sales year yet. So get out there. Blow the doors off your New Year’s resolution.
